Churching 2.0

After listening to Kodak’s history at Ad-tech this morning, I have been thinking that church operation should be no different from Kodak’s. Of course, I’m NOT suggesting gospel 2.0 or Christianity 2.0 where we start preaching a new gospel or somehow the gospel of Jesus needs upgrading.

Rather, I’m suggesting that the way we run church or outreach events may need to be revolutionized, hence Churching 2.0. What was a norm back in the 1980s or even 1880s may not be appropriate now. We need to invent new ways of running church meetings or outreach events. In Kodak, half of their business lines nowadays did not even exist 4-5 years ago. The factors that influence Churching 2.0 include new technology, and shift in demographic makeup. One example is to increase awareness or exposure using Facebook through posting events, updating status, etc. Another is to post Christian articles in blogs, participate in discussions on contemporary issues, etc. One habit that I am starting is to twit on my daily Bible reading … yep on Twitter and perhaps synchronize it with my Facebook status.

I would love to hear more of what other people think about revolutionizing the way we do church.
