Durian in Hillsdale

Monday, September 26th, 2005

I bought a durian yesterday in Southpoint shopping centre. The price is good $2/kg. The durian bought weighs about 3kg…unfortunately about 1/2 comes from the skin and seed. It tastes good although I prefer durians from Medan…stronger scent and flavour. This one is Monthong from Thailand.

A drive thru Sydney inner south west

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

Last night we drove to Auburn…to my uncle’s place to pick up some stuffs from my parents. We quite enjoyed the drive…through big roads with speed limit upto 80kph….from king georges road to olympic drive.

The road was hilly… stretching our echo’s engine.

Overtaking a double-trailer DHL truck was quite a ride.

$20 free mobile credit

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

Last evening I received Revolution SIM card with $20 free credit. Juni also got one. As I mentioned in my previous post , Revolution provides cheap call rates but the fee 15c/day makes me reluctant to switch. But I think I’ll enjoy the free credit…

Installing Latex2HTML in Win XP

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

Today I managed to complete Latex2HTML installation in my Win XP machine. It was a rather rough journey though. The trouble is that Latex2HTML does not come as a standalone executable. I had to install Miktex (latex compiler for win32), Perl, ghostscript and netpbm beforehand. Then, I had to configure latex2html preference file plus some other init files.

To install Miktex, I downloaded the installer from http://www.miktex.org/setup.html .
I downloaded Perl from http://www.activestate.com/Products/Download/Download.plex?id=ActivePerl . I used the MSI package. It turned out I didn’t need the window installer exe file.
The Netpbm came from Cvsnap1\SW\texutils\netpbm .
I already had ghostscript v8 installed.
Finally, the Latex2html package was available from http://saftsack.fs.uni-bayreuth.de/~latex2ht/current/ . I chose the latest one latex2html-2002-2-1.tar.gz.

I unpacked latex2html to C:\l2htemp as suggested in http://www.mail-archive.com/latex2html@tug.org/msg02093.html . This page provides a useful step-by-step installation of latex2html and the steps tackle various problems that I experienced yesterday.
