A thought on Gnosticism

In the IUC, we’ve been learning 1 John. In the last two sermons, a big word has appeared several times, “Gnosticism.” It was one of the major “-isms” in the early Christian history.

What thought to be a discrepancy in the Gospel according to Luke

During Christmas, we usually have a quiz about Jesus’ birth. One of the questions is “who told Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem?” According to the “myth” of Christmas, the answer is an angel, presumably Gabriel. However, historically, that is according to the Gospels, the answer is Caesar Augustus because he was running a census. Since Joseph belongs to the line of King David, he had to go down to Bethlehem to register for the census.

An observation on Islam

Being born in a country where 90% of populations are Muslims, one might think that I am Muslim myself or at least has fairly well understanding about Islam.

Tree vs simple chain dependencies

For the last few weeks, I’ve been running thousands of simulations using various bit error probabilities and packet sizes in the quest of comparing performance between the strategies for tree-structured dependencies and simple chain of dependencies.

Is the strategy for tree-structured dependencies superior to that for simple chain of dependencies? The real question is not so much whether it is or not but how superior it is.
